About usUpway
Upway is an online platform for reconditioned electric bikes. The company offers professionally reconditioned electric bikes at up to 60% less than the price of new and delivers the bike directly to your home within a few days. Upway was founded in July 2021 in Paris by Toussaint Wattinne and Stéphane Ficaja, two ex-Uber executives. Upway buys electric bikes from well-known brands such as Gaezelle, Cube, Stromer or Riese & Müller from professional and private customers, reconditions them entirely in 20 steps in its own workshops in Paris and Berlin and then resells the electric bikes via its own online store. Buyers benefit from a 12-month warranty on the frame, battery, motor and electronics. By reusing a previously produced electric bike, cyclists also protect the environment, by saving CO2 emissions and precious raw materials that would have been needed to produce a new bike. With Upway, the founders' vision is to make electric bikes more affordable, and to extend the life of each bike to make mobility more sustainable. Refurbished electric bikes are currently available in France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and the USA.

"We're at the beginning of a phenomenal wave of adoption of light electric mobility. When we created Upway, the idea was to be a player in the transition and continue to democratize this mode of travel. We realized that in the electric bike market we had on the one hand very expensive new products, and on the other a second-hand market with products in very poor condition and a lack of confidence. Upway is there to offer an affordable, quality alternative, to make electric bikes more accessible to everyone."
Toussaint Wattinne, co-founder and CEO ofUpway
