Of course, this list of essential accessories for a trip on an electric MTB is to be adapted according to the duration of your trip.

MTB used electrics: how to get the right equipment?

Upway meticulously reconditions every used electric bike, thanks to the conscientious work of our professional mechanics. As a result, we can offer you high-quality used mountain bikes in a condition as close to new as possible. But as with all bikes, used or new, breakdowns can happen during your outings. That's why it's a good idea to have a few accessories with you in case of problems, so you can continue your trip or return home without difficulty.

The tools to have for a VTTAE outing

A multi-tool: the multi-tool is the best friend of the mountain biker! This small and very compact multi-tool will be very useful to manage all the problems you might encounter during your ride on MTB : derailleur to adjust, shifter to screw, seatpost that moves.... It doesn't take up much space and fits easily in your bag or pocket. It is often included in repair kits as it can be very useful.

A dismounttire : need to change your tube in emergency ? That will be difficult without a tire irontire with you. Opt for a light plastic model in order not to encumber you too much.

A pump: this will be very useful if you need to reinflate your tires or adjust the pressure. A hand pump can do the trick, but if you want to be more efficient in re-inflating your tire, use a CO2 cartridge.

A puncture-proof spray: punctures are a cyclist's nightmare! Many used MTB electric bikes are equipped with tires puncture-proof. But if this problem should still occur and you don't know how to repair or replace an inner tube, take a puncture-proof spray with you as a last resort.

Clamps: they don't take up much space and are very useful for all sorts of small repairs on your VTTAE. You can also take a roll of duct tape, which will also allow you to do some extra work, but has the disadvantage of being more cumbersome.

What spare parts for your electric mountain bike trip?

A spare tube and patches: what to do when you get a puncture! The spare tube will be especially useful if you can't repair your damaged tube on the spot.

Quick links: These quick links allow you to easily repair your bicycle chain if it is damaged. It is indeed essential to the proper functioning of your MTB electric bike: it is what allows the transmission to turn the wheels to move forward. It is a fragile component that is put to the test during your rides.

A derailleur hanger: many mountain bikers fall or get stuck in the middle of their ride because of a broken derailleur hanger. To avoid finding yourself with a completely bent rear wheel, put a derailleur hanger in your bag, which weighs nothing, takes up little space and can save you a lot of trouble. Changing a derailleur hanger is a very simple mechanical operation that you can perform with your multi-tool.

An additional battery: some MTB electric bikes offer the possibility of adding a PowerPack to significantly extend the autonomy of the electric assistance and thus leave for a long ride more serenely. On the other hand, this solution makes the bike heavier: between 1.5 kg and 3 kg extra depending on the brand and the size.

Essential accessories and equipment for an outdoor activity in MTB

Now that your backpack contains all the tools you need to deal with the possible breakdowns of your used electric MTB , you should also take with you some accessories for your safety, but also for your comfort.

MTB electrical: what you need to have on hand for your safety

A first aid kit: bandages, disinfectant, tape, sun cream, insect bite lotion, insect repellent... These are all items to put in your backpack to prevent or treat your injuries during your ATV trips. You can easily compose your own kit according to your needs or buy one already designed.

Water: Whether you choose a simple water bottle or a water bag, it is very important to take something to hydrate yourself during your outing. Drinking regularly and in small sips during a physical effort strongly reduces the risks of cramps and discomfort.

Take something to eat: cereal bars, dried fruit... Also take a snack with you, even if you are not hungry when you leave. In case you feel sick or hungry, you will be happy to find something to give you strength!

A whistle: very practical in case of emergency and especially if you are injured. It will allow you to alert the people around you without getting tired and it doesn't take up any space! Don't forget your cell phone either, so that you can call for help from a distance if necessary.

A light: you never know what might happen and why your outing might drag on when you had planned to return before nightfall. Even if your used MTB is probably already equipped withlightingEven if your used electric car is probably already equipped with lights, take a small lamp with you, which could be useful after dark.

Exit in MTB : the accessories of comfort

For your comfort, don't hesitate to take gloves with you to protect your hands from the cold if you go out in winter, but especially from blisters that can form and be painful.

A pair of glasses can also be very useful to protect your eyes from the sun, but also from plants (branches, leaves...), mud and wind. Finally, put a pack of tissues in your bag: it's always useful!

Protection and clothing for the cyclist

Your electric MTB outfit is part of your comfort, but also your safety. Look for technical and breathable materials that you feel comfortable in.

MTB electric: choose the right helmet

During a trip in MTB , it is important to equip yourself with a helmet of good quality. No one is safe from a fall on a bike, especially if you are going to the mountains or other rugged terrain. It is best to choose a helmet made of polycarbonate, carbon or composite materials, which are light but above all absorb shocks better. Also make sure that it is bicycle approved, with the EN 1078 standard. There are also technologies that have proven to be safe, such as the MIPS system (multi-directional protection system).

Finally, for comfort, choose a helmet with vents to avoid sweating too much. Models with removable foam inside also provide more comfort and absorb moisture.

How to dress for a VTTAE ride?

For your comfort, choose clothes designed for the practice of the MTB with for example at the bottom a short, a shorts or pants. Long clothes have the disadvantage of being warm, but they protect you from the sun and scratches. On top, choose a jersey from MTB, a technical undershirt and possibly a technical jacket. For women, a suitable bra is also recommended.

If you ride your ATV in winter, don't hesitate to add a hat under your helmet and to wear a neck strap, more practical than a scarf.

Finally, the choice of your shoes will depend on the type of MTB you use and the discipline you practice. There are two types of pedals: flat and automatic. Depending on the degree of grip needed for a good grip, there are shoes with more or less notches. Do not hesitate to have a pair for winter (warmer and more insulating) and a pair for summer (more breathable).
