The Bosch Nyon isn’t just a bike computer: it’s your personal travel guide, fitness coach, and control center, all rolled into one device.

Whether you're still unsure if this display suits your riding style, or you simply want to master all the features of your refurbished e-bike refurbished current or future), this guide tells you everything you need to know.

Bosch Nyon display mounted on the handlebars of a refurbished e-bike

Key points to remember

  • All-in-one functionality: The Bosch Nyon combines navigation, detailed trip data, fitness tracking, and smartphone connectivity on a bright touchscreen.
  • Ideal for the adventurous cyclist: This display is perfect for touring cyclists and data enthusiasts, but may seem a bit complex for the minimalist urban cyclist.
  • Note regarding system compatibility: The classic Nyon (BUI350) works with virtually all older-generation Bosch motors, but e-bikes equipped with the new Bosch Smart System (starting in 2022) require specific Smart displays.

What makes the Bosch Nyon so special?

While basic displays like the Bosch Purion or the Intuvia simply show your speed and battery charge level, the Bosch Nyon takes the e-bike experience to a whole new level.

An impressive screen

The latest-generation Bosch Nyon (model BUI350) features a stunning 3.2-inch color touchscreen. It offers high resolution and automatically adjusts its brightness to suit the surroundings. Whether you’re riding in bright sunlight or heading home at dusk, your ride data remains perfectly legible. And there’s no need to worry about rain: the waterproof design lets you ride with complete peace of mind, no matter the weather.

Navigation and Connectivity

What truly sets this display apart is its built-in turn-by-turn navigation with topographic maps. The Nyon easily pairs with your smartphone and the eBike Connect app via Bluetooth. You can plan your routes in advance using the Bosch eBike Connect portal or popular platforms like Komoot. Once connected, your routes automatically sync with the display on your handlebars. While you’re on the road, the Nyon doesn’t just show you the way—it also calculates whether you can reach your destination with your remaining battery charge and the selected assistance mode, and provides real-time weather information.

Your personal fitness coach

Riding an e-bike doesn’t mean you have to give up physical exertion. The Nyon accurately tracks your pedaling power, cadence, and calorie burn. Do you take your health seriously? You can even connect an external heart rate monitor via Bluetooth for even more accurate workout data. What kind of cyclist is the Bosch Nyon designed for?

The Nyon is designed for cyclists who want to get the most out of their display.

  • The Hiker: If you enjoy exploring long, off-the-beaten-path routes on the weekends, the built-in navigation and Komoot integration are a huge plus.
  • The Data-Obsessed Athlete: For cyclists who want to track their progress, count their calories, and optimize their cadence, the Nyon offers a wealth of information.
  • The Tech Enthusiast: Do you like to customize your screens and connect apps? This in-dash unit is for you.

Who is it less suitable for? If you’re a minimalist who just wants to commute to the office without any hassle, or if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, the Bosch Purion Compact or the basic Bosch Intuvia might be better choices. The Nyon is relatively large and can sometimes seem a bit complicated for beginners to get the hang of.

BUI275 or BUI350: What's the difference?

When you dive into the technical specifications of e-bikes, you’ll often come across product codes. For the Nyon, there are two well-known generations. The most noticeable difference is the screen format: the older generation (BUI275) features a wider, more imposing landscape (horizontal) format. The newer generation (BUI350) has a slimmer, more modern portrait (vertical) screen. You can always check which model you have by looking at the laser engraving on the back of the device.

The Added Value of Nyon on a refurbished E-Bike

Choosing a refurbished e-bike refurbished Upway and specifically looking for a model that already comes equipped with the Bosch Nyon is a truly smart decision. A Nyon kit sold separately easily costs more than €300 in stores, not to mention installation fees. By opting for a refurbished bike refurbished Nyon already built in, you’ll save a significant amount on this high-end upgrade.

Tip for secondhand buyers: When you receive your refurbished bike, there’s a good chance that our technicians have already reset the display. If not, go to your Nyon’s settings and perform a “Factory Reset.” This will erase the previous owner’s routes, weight, and fitness data, so that the Nyon can accurately calculate your range and calorie burn based on your personal profile starting from the very first kilometer. As an expert, I also recommend applying a matte screen protector to the display: since it’s a touchscreen, this will help prevent annoying fingerprints and glare from the sun!

Can I upgrade my current Bosch display?

Do you already own an e-bike with a Bosch motor and a Purion or Intuvia display? Upgrading to the Nyon (or the sportier Kiox) is often entirely possible! These displays frequently use similar connectors on the “Classic Bosch System” (2013–2021), which makes the switch possible in many cases. Please note, however: switching from an Intuvia to a Nyon sometimes requires modifying the mount and wiring.

Be especially careful if your e-bike is new and equipped with the “Bosch Smart System” (identified by the LED remote control on the handlebars). The classic Nyon display is not compatible with this system. For this system, Bosch is launching specific Smart System displays (such as the Nyon 2 Smart or the Kiox 300). Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Bosch Nyon display waterproof?

Yes, the Bosch Nyon has a waterproof design, which means you can ride in the rain without worrying that the display or touchscreen will stop working.

2. What navigation app does the Bosch Nyon use?

The Nyon uses turn-by-turn navigation based on topographic maps. You can plan your routes in the Bosch eBike Connect portal, or easily sync the system with popular routing platforms like Komoot.

3. Does the Nyon also work with the new Bosch Smart System?

The standard Nyon (BUI350) is designed for the "classic" Bosch system (such as the Performance Line CX through 2021). For e-bikes equipped with the new BES3 Smart System (starting in 2022), the standard Nyon is not compatible; a "Nyon Smart" or a specific Kiox 300 is required.

4. Can I connect a heart rate monitor to the Bosch Nyon?

Absolutely. You can connect external sensors, such as a heart rate monitor, to the Nyon via Bluetooth to track your workout data and fitness progress with even greater accuracy.

5. Is the Bosch Nyon mount compatible with my current e-bike?

If you are currently using a Bosch Intuvia, it is often not possible to clip the Nyon BUI350 directly into the same mount. The Nyon BUI350 generally requires a specific display mount and a set of screws, and depending on your current system, the cable connecting to the motor (drive unit cable) may need to be replaced.
