Fazua motor error codes and problems: causes and solutions

As the owner of an electric bike equipped with a Fazua assistance system, you undoubtedly enjoy smooth and light support. However, your bike may occasionally display an error message, the motor may make unusual noises, or the system may simply not work as expected.

Fazua systems primarily communicate via LED indicators and specific physical signals, rather than numbered error codes on a conventional display. This can make it difficult to immediately identify the source of the problem.

In this comprehensive article, we review the most common "error codes," LED signals, and common problems with the Fazua system. We explain in detail their causes and, most importantly, the appropriate solutions. At the end of the article, you will also find a clear and practical summary table.

Key findings

  1. Most "error codes" are related to connection issues.
  2. Temperature has a significant impact on performance.
  3. Regular cleaning prevents about 70% of problems.

Visual "error codes": what do the LED lights mean?

The Fazua system communicates primarily via LED indicators located on the remote control, the drive pack, or the LED Hub (particularly on the RIDE 60 system). Here are the most common visual signals and their meanings:

A red LED lights up on the drivepack.

Cause: A red LED indicates a connection fault between the drivepack and the bottom bracket. This problem is usually caused by dirt or dust at the interface (connection point).

Solution: Carefully clean the connectors on the bottom bracket housing and those on the drivepack.

A yellow LED lights up on the drivepack.

Cause: A yellow LED indicates a problem with the speed sensor. This is most often a communication fault between the speed sensor and the bottom bracket unit.

Solution: Check the alignment of the speed sensor and the magnet attached to a spoke. They must be perfectly positioned opposite each other. If the problem persists, contact your Fazua service partner.

The remote control flashes white.

Cause: If the LEDs on the remote control flash white, this is not a fault. The system is simply performing a software update. After a firmware update, the remote control updates automatically.

Solution: Wait and do not turn off the remote control while the LEDs are flashing.

Warnings on the LED Hub

For users of the RIDE 60 system, the LED Hub may display a warning.

Cause: This is a technical incident requiring the cyclist's attention.

Solution: A warning does not necessarily prevent the engine from operating and can often be resolved by the user themselves.

Error messages on the LED Hub

Unlike a Warning, an Error is more serious.

Cause: A technical problem is preventing the engine from functioning properly.

Solution: Prompt action is required. In most cases, a certified service partner must examine the system.

Power issues: why does the engine seem to be performing less efficiently?

Sometimes the system does not display any specific warning light, but the motor power appears to be reduced or the assistance suddenly cuts out.

The engine delivers little power.

Three main causes can explain a decline in performance:

  1. new system new a new assistance system new a few kilometers of running-in before reaching its optimal performance.
  2. Heat: In high temperatures, heat management of the battery and drive pack limits power to prevent overheating. On recent models such as the RIDE 60, the LED Hub can also visually indicate a reduction in power ("Decreasing Power").
  3. Cold: At low temperatures, lithium-ion batteries naturally see a decrease in performance.

Sudden loss of assistance (which does not return)

Cause: Activation of the BMS (Battery Management System) protection system to preserve the battery.

Solution: Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds to turn off the battery, then turn it back on.

Mechanical problems and unusual noises

Fazua systems are modular, which means that certain components can be inserted into or removed from the frame. This can sometimes lead to specific mechanical problems.

The drivepack does not engage in the down tube.

Cause: The lock does not hold the drivepack because the red locking mechanism is not activated.

Solution: Press the black block located in the lock to release the red mechanism. The drivepack will then be able to engage correctly.

The drivepack can no longer be removed.

Cause: The lock may be defective, often due to dust or mud getting into the system (for example, if you have ridden without a drivepack installed in the frame).

Solution: Contact your Fazua service partner.

Unusual noises: squeaking and rattling

Scratching noise: it is likely that the polygon sleeve is moving.

Clattering noise: the clutch has been subjected to excessive pressure on one side.

Solution (in both cases): Contact a Fazua service partner.

Battery and remote control issues

The battery does not fit properly into the drivepack.

Cause: Presence of dirt or an object between the battery and the motor connector inside the drivepack.

Solution: Inspect and thoroughly clean the inside of the drivepack.

The remote control does not turn on

Cause 1: The battery automatically turned off after a period of inactivity (approximately 8 hours).

Solution 1: Simply turn the battery back on.

Cause 2: Dirt present at the interface between the battery and the drive system.

Solution 2: Clean the interface between the battery and the drive pack.

FAQ

What does a red LED on a Fazua motor mean?

This usually indicates a faulty connection between the drivepack and the bottom bracket, often caused by dirt.

Why does Fazua assistance suddenly cut out?

The battery's BMS protection may have been activated. Reset the battery by holding down the button for 3 seconds.

Is a Fazua warning serious?

No, generally the system continues to function. An error, on the other hand, is more serious.

Why does my Fazua system deliver less power in winter?

Lithium-ion batteries lose efficiency at low temperatures.

Can I resolve a Fazua error myself?

In most cases, no. An error requires the intervention of a certified service partner.
