Key findings

  1. Always start with simple checks (battery, reset, click)
  2. The screen's internal battery is often the cause
  3. Dirt and loose connections are more common than you might think

Quick checks in 60 seconds (try these first!)

Before you reach for your tools or replace the batteries, start with the most obvious solutions. You'd be surprised how often that's all it takes.

Is the main battery securely fastened?
It might sound silly, but take the large battery out of the frame and put it back in properly. You should hear or feel a distinct “click.” Even a slight misalignment can cut off the power. Also press the battery’s test button to see if the LEDs light up.

Put the screen back in place
If your display is removable (such as on the Intuvia, Kiox, or Nyon), remove it completely, wait a few seconds, and then press it firmly back into place until it clicks.

The "hard reset" (long press)
Just like a smartphone, the screen can glitch. Hold down the power button for 5 to 10 seconds. For a Bosch Kiox, hold it down for 60 seconds.

Key tip: Start it using the battery!
If the screen doesn't respond at all, press the power button on the main battery.
→ If the screen lights up, then the motor and battery are working. The problem is almost certainly with the screen (or its internal battery).

What kind of screen do you have? (internal battery solution)

What many people don't know: almost all Bosch displays have a small internal battery.

Bosch Purion

Uses two CR2016 button batteries.

  • Open the compartment with a coin
  • Replace with two CR2016 batteries
  • Note: Both "+" sides must be facing up
  • Tip: Wear gloves to prevent loose connections

Bosch Intuvia, Kiox, or Nyon

Built-in rechargeable battery.

Solution:

  • Remove the screen
  • Plug it in via the micro-USB port
  • Full charge ≈ 3 hours

Bosch Intuvia 100

It may be in standby mode.

Solution:

  • Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 1 second
  • Otherwise: replace the CR2450 battery

Sales or support contacts are too frequent

Electricity doesn't like dirt or oxidation.

  • Electricity doesn't like dirt or oxidation.
  • Clean the contacts with a dry cloth
  • Use an eraser to lightly polish them
  • In case of corrosion: contact spray

Be careful not to tighten the clamp too much! If the clamp is too tight, it can warp the plastic → resulting in poor contact. → Loosen it slightly and try again.

Reset the main battery (BMS)

Sometimes the problem lies with the battery management system.

Procedure:

  1. Remove the battery
  2. Place it on a table (unplugged)
  3. Hold down the ON/OFF button for 10–15 seconds
  4. Put the battery back in and test it

This often fixes software bugs.

Bonus: Screen OK, but speed = 0?

If the display is working but still shows 0 km/h:

  • The sensor or wheel magnet is probably misaligned
  • Ideal distance: 5 to 17 mm

You can also reset the screen by holding down Reset + i for 3 seconds.

When should you take your car to the repair shop?

If nothing works, contact a Bosch specialist if:

  • Damaged cables
  • Error codes (500, 503, 423…)
  • The screen doesn't turn on after charging

A repair technician has Bosch diagnostic tools and can update the firmware.

Conclusion

“My Bosch display isn’t working” might sound like a big deal, but in 90% of cases, it’s easily fixed:

  • Replace the Purion battery
  • Recharge the Intuvia
  • Clean the contacts
  • Use the battery button
