Electric bike insurance 2025: what does it cover (and what doesn't)?
E-bikes are more expensive, and therefore more attractive to thieves, than conventional bicycles. So many people ask: should you insure your e-bike, and what exactly does this insurance cover?
Electric bike insurance generally covers theft, attempted theft, damage due to a fall or collision, vandalism and sometimes accessories or breakdown assistance. However, normal wear and tear and aging of the battery are not generally covered. For speed pedelecs, insurance is compulsory; for classic e-bikes, it is optional, but strongly recommended.
