It all depends on your preferences. Cube offers better value for money, while Trek focuses more on innovation and sporty technology.
Cube vs Trek: which electric MTB to choose?
You're about to buy an electricMTB and are hesitating, like me, between Cube and Trek? You're certainly not alone! The choice is not an easy one. Both brands enjoy excellent reputations among mountain bikers, but there are differences that can only be discovered by trying them out.

Cube: affordable and solid
Cube is a German brand, and it shows: everything is sturdy and well finished. What I like most about Cube is that they offer a lot for a reasonable price. Most models are equipped with a Bosch Performance CX motor, which makes riding in the woods or on steep climbs really easy. I myself rode a Cube Access Hybrid Pro and immediately noticed the stability and comfort of the frame. The display is clear and gears shift smoothly. The 500 Wh battery is sufficient for a day's outing; only, for a long mountain ride, I'd like to have a little more capacity.
By upgrading to the Cube Reaction Hybrid SL, you benefit from a little more power and equipment: bigger battery, better fork, more powerful brakes. On technical trails, the difference is clear: you gain in confidence and think much less about range or braking safety.
Trek: innovation and sporting experience
Trek is an American brand, and this is reflected in the design and technology. Trek puts more emphasis on riding pleasure. For example, I tried out a Trek E-Caliber 9.6: a super-light, maneuverable XC. The motor is less powerful than the Bosch, but it provides subtle, natural assistance, like a little nudge, without turning the bike into a moped.
For more technical trails, I tested the Powerfly 7. It's equipped with a Bosch motor (85 Nm), a large battery and generous travel. Ideal if you like to descend drops or climb real mountain passes. The frame has a sportier, more aggressive stance than Cube's - a difference you really feel when riding both brands.
Which models to choose?
1. Cube Access Hybrid Pro

Comfortable, reliable and perfect for uncomplicated enjoyment.
- Motor: Bosch Performance CX (85 Nm)
- Battery: 500 Wh integrated
- Frame: Aluminium, stable and comfortable
- Suspension: 100 mm front fork
- Brakes: Hydraulic disc brakes
Ideal for beginners looking for power and reliability. Thanks to the Bosch motor, you can climb hills effortlessly. The 500 Wh battery is sufficient for day outings, but may be a little short in the mountains.
2. Cube Reaction Hybrid SL

A little more power and a better configuration for long outings and demanding terrain.
- Motor: Bosch Performance CX (85 Nm)
- Battery: 625 Wh integrated
- Frame: Lightweight aluminum, sporty geometry
- Suspension: RockShox, 120 mm
- Brakes: 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes
The difference with the Access Hybrid Pro lies in the larger battery, higher-quality fork and more powerful brakes. An excellent choice for longer rides or more technical trails.
3. Trek E-Caliber 9.6

Light, fast, perfect for cross-country riding with discreet assistance that makes climbing a pleasure.
- Motor: Fazua Evation (55 Nm), lighter and more subtle than Bosch
- Battery: 250 Wh (removable), extendable with range extender
- Frame: Ultra-light carbon
- Suspension: IsoStrut 60 mm + front fork
- Brakes: Shimano hydraulic disc brakes
The E-Caliber is designed for speed and efficiency. It looks almost like a classic XC MTB , but with a little electric support. The lighter Fazua system gives a natural feel, but offers less power and range than Cube's Bosch motors. Ideal for athletes who like to climb and ride fast.
4. Trek Powerfly 7

A versatile, powerful, comfortable model, ready for adventure on all types of trails.
- Motor: Bosch Performance CX (85 Nm)
- Battery: 625 Wh
- Frame: Aluminum, modern trail geometry
- Suspension: RockShox front + rear, 120-140 mm
- Brakes: 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes
Powerfly 7 combines power and comfort. Suitable for technical trails, steep slopes and long outings. Thanks to its 625 Wh battery, autonomy is long, and the full-suspension provides comfort on rough terrain.
Cube or Trek: which is right for you?
Personally, I'd choose Cube if I wanted good value for money, with a robust frame and powerful assistance. I'd choose Trek if I were looking above all for a sporty riding experience, with more refinement and innovation. The difference is in the details and the sensations.
My advice: try them both! Do a test ride in the store, in the woods or on the trails, and concentrate on how you feel, where you stand and how the motor behaves. The choice is very personal: Cube stands out for its sturdiness and attractive price, Trek for its innovative playfulness.
