Still little known, Bonvelo is a recent brand based in Germany in Hamburg. It designs affordable bikes for urban travel and specializes in fixies and single speed bikes.

Bonvelo bikes have the particularity of having only one gear. They are designed to ride on flat or slightly hilly areas. The "flip-flop" hub on the rear wheel allows you to switch between a freewheel (single speed) and a fixed gear (fixie) in a few steps. Bonvelo launched its first electric bikes with the Rakede Boost range and its singlespeed ebike. These e-bikes weigh only 15 kg and feature powerful hydraulic disc brakes and a belt drive that is both durable and almost completely silent.

The Bonvelo Rakede Boost range currently comprises two models: the Rakede Boost Raw and the Rakede Boost Noir, differentiated only by their different frame color. The latter are sold new for less than €2,000. 

At first glance, these electric bicycles look very much like conventional bikes. Their motor is cleverly housed in the rear hub. It develops a torque of 40 Nm, has a cadence sensor and offers a choice of 5 assistance modes. The Samsung battery of the Bonvelo Rakede Boost electric bikes allows to ride between 40 and 70 km in full autonomy, thanks to its capacity of 252 Wh. These EABs are intended for a city use and will satisfy the uses living in a relatively flat city.

These VAEs go to the basics and are not linked to any application. You just have to turn on the control screen to adjust your level of assistance and to know the data of your trip. Running out of battery? No problem! The Bonvelo Rakede Boost can be used as a regular bike, thanks to its light weight.
